ArTchie Studios LLC · donations and the practice fishing game · last updated 6 October 2026
The short version: a donation is a gift toward making Barely Civilized. You are not buying anything, donations are not refunded, and the credits and stars are our way of saying thank you.
Donations
- A donation is a gift. It goes toward the development of Barely Civilized. It is voluntary, and it is not a purchase of any goods or services.
- Nothing is owed in return. Donating does not buy the game, a copy of it, early access, or any say in how it is made.
- Not tax-deductible. ArTchie Studios LLC is a company, not a charity, so a donation cannot be claimed as a charitable gift.
- Payments are taken by Stripe on Stripe's own page. We never see your card number.
- You must be 18 or older to donate, or have the permission of a parent or guardian.
No refunds
Donations are not refunded. They are gifts, not payments for goods or services.
Made a mistake? If you donated by accident, or donated the wrong amount, contact us as soon as possible at [email protected]. Tell us the email address you used at checkout and what went wrong, and we will look into it.
The thank-you: credits and stars
- They are a thank-you from us, not something you bought. After a donation we add practice credits and supporter stars to the practice fishing game.
- No cash value. Credits and stars cannot be exchanged for money, transferred to anyone else, or used anywhere except the practice fishing game on this site.
- Sign in to keep them safe. If you are signed in, your credits and stars are saved to your account and follow you to any device. If you are not, they are remembered only by the browser you donated from, and clearing its data can lose them. If that happens, write to us and we will help.
- They can change. The practice game is a small extra. We may change how credits and stars work, or retire the game, at any time.
The practice fishing game and its board
- It is offered as it is, for fun. It may be changed, reset or taken down without notice.
- Scores may be removed. We can remove any score or set of three letters from the board, including ones that are offensive or were not earned by playing.
