Pillars
Open Plan (and the CharterPlan inspector) edits 3–5 pillar slots. Pillars are tiebreakers when features fight — not a mission statement and not a backlog.
No extra menu. Use ArTchie / Charter / Open Plan.
Slots
- Always 3–5. Add pillar is disabled at 5. Remove is disabled at 3.
- Empty Name is allowed. An unnamed slot still counts.
- Each slot: Name + Use when deciding (textarea). Use-when-deciding is the rule you apply when a feature fights the pillar.
Blank and One-Page GDD still start with three slots. One-Page GDD fills use-when-deciding prompts; names stay empty until you name them.
Feature vs pillar
Each feature stores CharterPillarFit values index-aligned with plan.pillars:
| Fit | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Unknown | Not marked yet (default) |
| Supports | This feature protects the pillar |
| Violates | This feature fights the pillar |
When the pillar count changes, extra fit slots are Unknown; extras are dropped. Removing a middle pillar drops that same index on every feature.
In Features, each named feature row shows a compact popup per named pillar: Unknown / Supports / Violates. Unnamed pillar slots are skipped in the labels (list length stays aligned). Unnamed feature rows have no checklist until you name them.
A Features helpbox reports Violates against any named pillar. Zero is Info: Violates is unused so far; a violate mark means cut or rewrite the feature (or the pillar); editing is not blocked. One or more is a Warning that names the count (and up to three feature names) and states that save and export are not blocked. Fits are never auto-changed; completeness does not require all Supports.
Completeness
Required one-page list is unchanged: still ≥1 named pillar (empty slots do not count). A 3–5 pillar slots miniLabel appears only when the count is outside that range (informational). The editor itself keeps the count at 3–5.
